Athens Xclusive Designers Week
Athens Xclusive Designers Week (AXDW) is the official international fashion week in Greece. It takes place twice a year at the luxurious premises of Ethniki Asfalistiki Conference Center, presenting both supreme and current, cutting edge Greek designers along with top international fashion designers and fashion houses. Until today, AXDW has had the honor of hosting the fashion shows of legendary international fashion houses such as Escada, Cacharel, Emanuel Ungaro, Vivienne Westwood, Guy Laroche, Krizia, Vivia Ferragamo, Barbara Bui, Francois & Marithe Girbaud, to name a few.
The fashion shows are assembled and designed with top of the range production standards, corresponding to the same rank as the “Big Four” official fashion weeks in Paris, London, Milan and New York.
Every season, Athens Xclusive Designers Week is a must-visit destination for a total more than 25.000 people, including Greek and international Press and media, fashion buyers, fashion professionals and exclusive guests. Personalities like Nicky Hilton, Tara Reid and Boy George among others, have visited AXDW.
AXDW’s strategic partnerships and collaborations with international organisations and local authorities over the years have developed a strong base for very successful fashion events, enhancing the local industry awareness, supporting the work of the important home-grown and foreign designers. AXDW’s imperative mission is to promote Athens as an important cultural European capital and as a must-visit annual International Fashion Week program.
AXDW celebrates fashion in its most unique and innovative way. It aims at presenting an extensive creative program for fashion, business and culture giving the opportunity to its visitors to live the experience of a fashion festival with creative interaction.
From charity galas and fashion concerts to art exhibitions and business forums, AXDW is determined to make each of its fashion weeks a memorable, engaging and entertaining experience.
Fashion with conscience; that is the philosophy behind AXDW’s social responsibility actions. By supporting a different NGO or social cause every time, AXDW has managed to give fashion a “voice” to spread important messages in innovative ways; whether it involves the environment, the children or women with cancer, AXDW’s objective is to make a difference through fashion. Through the years, AXDW has supported several well known NGOs like the Make a Wish Foundation, Women in Need and the Pink Ribbon campaign, as well as other organizations focusing on the preservation of the environment, NGOs fighting for people with cancer etc.
One of AXDW’s main goals is to support, promote and reward new talent and it has proudly established the only institution in Greece addressing new Greek fashion designers. That is the inspiration behind the New Designers Awards institution established exclusively by AXDW . Every AXDW dedicates one day for its new designers, who present their work and compete for 3 important prizes. The judging committee is comprised of acknowledged personalities from the fashion world and media, and winners have the opportunity to win important prizes related to their upcoming career.
With its team of highly experienced fashion professionals in various fields, its strong business ethics and its passion for fashion, AXDW constantly evolves to continuously upgrade its standards and make a substantial contribution to the fashion industry.
