The 25th Athens Xclusive Designers Week was completed successfully after a series of glamorous fashion shows and events. The fashion week was held between March 27th and April 2nd at the historical Zappeion Hall in the centre of Athens. Acknowledged designers, international press representatives and fashion buyers celebrate the intersection of music, art, design, fashion and new trends for the upcoming season.

DAY 1

The talented designer Vassilis Zoulias opened Athens Fashion Week showcasing his prêt-à-porter collection for the first time, inspired by timeless femininity and dedicated to his beloved doggie Verouska. A unique show that took place on Wednesday March 27th in a beautiful setting that resembled the façade of a French boutique, in the amazing street full of jacarandas at Zappeion Gardens. Tone down colour like teal and grey, along with ochre and burgundy details were prevalent in the new collection. Floral and checked prints, elegant office looks, cocktail dresses and classy deux-pièces impressed the audience. All the outfits were adorned with imposing jewellery by Pericles Kondylatos and impressive hats by Katerina Karoussos. The show was highlighted with the models walking the catwalk along with some adorable stray dogs from the “Save a Greek Stray” organization, which were also available for possible adoption by guests.

DAY 2

On Thursday March 28th, the day was dedicated to young creators and New Designers Awards who presented impressive collections to the public and jury, contesting for the important awards: Best Catwalk, Best Trendsetter and Best New Designer, which correspond to significant prizes for their forthcoming career in fashion. This year the competition had the new French beer “1664 Blanc” as sponsor and since it supports fashion and young entrepreneurship, challenged all the new designers to create a special outfit inspired from this beer.

Τhe following designers participated in the New Designers Awards by 1664 Blanc: Berequette, Yiorgos Michoudis, Min & Max, Kyriaki Symeonidi, Alexandros Kappas, Anastasia Laftsidi & Sl Cute Couture.

Antonia Dimopoulou was distinguished as the winner of the Best New Designer Award with her new collection 'Recontextualize Fashion', AW 2019-20 which is the new perspective of a contemporary, modern collection with innovative materials and unique design.

Myria Oikonomou, the winner of Best Trendsetter Award, with the brand Min&Max impressed the jury with her creations while Alexandros Kappas won the Best Catwalk Award with an amazing finale in his show.

DAY 3

Romina Karamanea Fashion School opened the third day of AXDW with its talented students and graduates showcasing their amazing work. The Greek brand EMCI came to life in 2017 by fashion designer Margarita Priftaki and has already a strong presence in the Greek industry. Unique appeal, strong statements and evolution of colours and shapes in her new collection that was inspired by natural beauty in an urban safari.

MK by Marios presented the new collection inspired by the basic colours of red and yellow as well as the shades of black and white in order to surround, to "sound" a more colourful contemporary everyday life. Avant-garde performances in contradiction to the most commercial elements of the collection underlined by jewellery and head pieces. Pop and Ethnic influences were the main characteristics.

A black lighted intro made of fluid and a fluo colour palette gave quickly its position to modern and sporty black and white silhouettes in the show BAYA. Unique athleisure looks with leggings, ultra-cropped tops and trendy accessories dominated the stage.

Kathy Heyndels & Giannetos Handmade closed the third day presenting glamourous eveningwear. Kathy Heyndels' new collection was like a chic parade of colourful dreams with maxi dresses with feminine slides, combined with lace and sheer details. The bridal dresses followed the designer's catwalk. The popular Menswear House Giannetos Handmade showcased tailor made and handcrafted suits for the modern man of 2019/20.

DAY 4

The Chinese designer Jasmine showcased her SS19 collection, which actually included four different collections. The first one was a pink coat series. The second series included striped sportswear made from super soft cotton. The third series was the label’s classic black and white, evening dress collection. The last series Jasmine presented was inspired from the Aegean sea of Greece.

JP John Pan presented his new eyewear collection with a strong statement “Be original - Fight fake”. Loyal to natural materials of the finest quality, John Pan transforms materials into exclusive items and collections that contribute to local communities’ economy and welfare.

Herminas Reea Brand from Romania participated for the second time in AXDW. Ultra-feminine evening looks, aerial outfits, sequins and embroidered lace gowns were dominant.

Dimitris Strepkos head designer of the avant-garde brand “Celebrity Skin” showcased his 20th collection, titled immaculateconception10, celebrating 10 years of creating fashion editorials, clothes and costumes for the theatre.

Tassos Mitropoulos presented his new collection consisted of chic evening gowns for the perfect look. Black palette and shades of green, dominated the stage while prevalent feminine elements, slim fit dresses, sensual laces and beautiful slides highlighted the collection.

Myrto Dramountani closed the 4th day of AXDW with a fashion show where her new collection AW 2019/20 “Illusions” was presented. Minimal forms, 3D and geometrical shapes were the main characteristics, using crepe, silk and leather fabrics.

DAY 5

Mindy by Iliana’s new collection for SS19 was full of flower patterns and colours. Modern, romantic and feminine looks, while the aerial gypsy outfits impressed the audience. In her show there were kids walking on the runway as well.

The next show was Panos Apergis with his new AW 19/20 collection. Fluffy and slim-waist coats made of pure cotton and wool gave life to an earthy colour palette. Tribal patterns which are a strong characteristic of the brand were transformed into chic modern silhouettes. Ethnic influences were also apparent in the designer’s casual leather backpacks.

Christina Zafeiriou showcased her new collection with an impressive fashion show. Katerina Stikoudi, a famous Greek singer made an amazing performance opening the show. The collection was full of feminine glowing dresses with sparkling details.

On Sunday night the shows were completed with the new collection of MI-RO which was presented in an impressive and industrial location at Athens School of Fine Arts. The designers’ new haute couture collection for SS19 was titled “never ending glam” and inspired by the sexiness of 80s. The muses of Guy Bourdin, Helmut Newton and Chris Von Wangenheim were modernly “revamped” in order to create unique looks.

Day 6

Olga Karaververis closed the AXDW of this season and presented her new collection "Opera Divas" that highlighted the elegance and femininity. A parade of chic cocktail dresses and glamorous evening gowns were presented at the show that was held at Divani Caravel hotel. The guests were impressed by the creations of the designer which were accompanied by the opera arias of the famous soprano Vassiliki Karagianni.
